Seven Steps to Family
From your first inquiry to your child coming home—here's your roadmap, step by step.
Initial Inquiry & Orientation
Contact us by phone, email, or our website. Attend a 1-hour orientation where we explain the process, requirements, timelines, costs, and answer all your questions honestly.
Application & Documentation
Complete application, provide personal history, medical records, financial statements, and references. We begin preliminary background checks and legal verification.
Home Study & Assessment
Our social services team visits your home, interviews family members, and completes a detailed assessment of your physical environment, financial stability, emotional readiness, and capacity to parent. 2–3 visits over 4–6 weeks.
Approval & Child Matching
The Central Adoption Authority (C.A.A) oversees the approval and matching process.
Introduction & Bonding
Family is introduced to child. Both family and child are made to go home and bond for three (3) months.
Legal Finalization
Family then goes to court for the legal approval to be parents of the child.
Post-Placement Support (5 Years)
Monthly home visits, counseling, peer support groups, and crisis availability. We monitor bonding, address challenges early, and celebrate milestones with you. Your family's thriving is our measure of success.

"Will my child bond with me?"
Bonding is real and happens. Most children form strong attachments within a week to 3 months of consistent, loving care. We screen for attachment trauma, provide pre-placement prep, and monitor closely in the first year. If bonding challenges arise, we intervene immediately.
"What if there are behavioral or developmental issues?"
We conduct thorough medical and psychological assessments before placement. Full transparency on every child's background.
"Could the adoption be reversed?"
Once legally finalized by the court, adoption is permanent. The child is your legal child with full rights of inheritance and succession. Ghana's adoption law is clear: no birth parent can claim custody after legal finalization.
"What if I can't afford it?"
We have sliding-scale fees and limited scholarships for families in genuine financial hardship. No qualified family should be turned away because of cost. We'll work with you to find a solution.
"Will my child understand their heritage?"
We ensure every adopted child understands and takes pride in their Ghanaian heritage. We provide cultural education, facilitate contact with their community of origin (if appropriate), and help adoptive families celebrate their child's full identity.
"How long will you actually support us?"
Minimum 5 years of structured post-placement support—that's guaranteed. But adoption is lifelong for us too. Many families stay connected beyond 5 years.
Before You Begin: Questions We Hear
Transparency and honesty guide every conversation. Here are answers to the questions families ask most.
Married couples (minimum age 25, minimum 5 years marriage), single individuals (female) (minimum age 25), and extended family members are all eligible under Ghana's Adoption Law. We assess stability, home safety, financial capacity, and emotional readiness—not checklists.
Local adoption: 12–14 months. Inter-country adoption: 12–24 months. Relative adoption: 6–10 months.
Minimum 5-year support including monthly home visits in the first 6 months, quarterly visits thereafter, access to family counselor, peer support groups, and 24/7 crisis support.
We have a sliding-scale fee structure and limited scholarships for families facing financial hardship. No child should be placed based on a family's ability to pay.
Yes. Inter-country adoption is legal under Ghana's adoption law and The Hague Adoption Convention. We coordinate with your home country's adoption authority and ensure all documentation meets international requirements.
